Niger Basin Countries Adopt Climate Resilience Investment Plan [viewed]

wb_bassinniger27 October 2015: The countries of the Niger Basin have jointly developed a Climate Resilience Investment Plan (CRIP) that outlines 246 priority actions for building climate resilience. The nine member States of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Nigeria, collaborated on the Plan and pledged to advocate for technical and financial support to implement its priority actions.

Danube Countries Strengthen Prevention of Industrial Accidents [viewed]

UNECE21 October 2015: The Republic of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine agreed to strengthen their cooperation on hazard and crisis management in the Danube Delta, during a workshop of the UN Economic Commission for Europe's (UNECE) Danube Delta Project. The three countries plan to work together to protect human health and the Delta's natural heritage from accidental water pollution.

GEF Council Approves Regional Programme to Protect Amazon [viewed]

GEF21 October 2015: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council has approved a “first-of-its-kind” multi-million dollar project to help protect over 80% of the Amazon and combat climate change. GEF says it will commit US$113 million for the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Program, a regional programme covering Brazil, Colombia and Peru, which is expected to leverage US$682 million in additional financing over five years.
