UNFF Launches Website to Support Financing for SFM [viewed]

UnffJanuary 2015: The UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) launched a website to support the ongoing Facilitative Process adopted to assist developing countries in identifying and accessing financing for sustainable forest management (SFM). The Facilitative Process is based on the tenants of a bottom-up approach that takes into account the multiple uses and values of forests as well as the range of ecosystem services they provide.

IPBES to Undertake Thematic Assessment on Land Degradation and Restoration [viewed]

ipbes17 January 2015: The third session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES-3) has approved a timetable for carrying out an assessment on land degradation and restoration. The assessment is part of a first set of three thematic assessments to be carried out by the Platform between 2015 and 2018. The final outcome will include an executive summary presenting key findings and policy-relevant conclusions, a summary for policymakers and an eight-chapter report.

UNCCD Launches Land Degradation Neutrality Project [viewed]

UNCCD logoJanuary 2015: The inception meeting of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) Project, attended by 15 country delegates, took place from 14-16 January 2014 in Bonn, Germany. The project's objective is to contribute towards implementing the outcomes of the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20), by providing the UNCCD with empirical evidence on the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of the LDN goal.

IFAD Project Combats Land Degradation in Ethiopia [viewed]
