Colombia and Stanford University Partner on Forest Carbon Monitoring in the Amazon [viewed]

25 July 2012: The Government of Colombia and Stanford University's Carnegie Institution have demonstrated the ability to measure carbon stocks using a combination of airborne Light Detection and Ranging technology (LiDAR) and a satellite image analysis technology called CLASlite to produce carbon maps. The technology aims to contribute to operationalize REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, and the role of conservation, sustainable use of forests and enhancement of carbon stock).

CTI Paper Outlines Strategic Links With Rio+20 Themes [viewed]

Island Leaders Announce Conservation Commitments [viewed]

21 June 2012: The Global Island Partnership (GLISPA) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) hosted a leaders breakfast on 21 June 2012, on the sidelines of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The breakfast was attended by Heads of State or Government from Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Colombia, Grenada, Indonesia, and Seychelles, who announced new conservation commitments.
