IFAD Project Combats Land Degradation in Ethiopia [viewed]

IFAD16 January 2015: An International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-supported project in Ethiopia is making progress in addressing land degradation. The 'Community-based Natural Resource Management Project,' located in the watershed of Lake Tana in the northwest of the country focuses on combating land degradation and promoting sustainable land management (SLM) to increase agricultural productivity, household food security, incomes and climate change resilience.

GEF Updates on Sustainable Cities, Deforestation and Food Security Programmes [viewed]

GEF5 January 2015: The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has released its first updates on three 'integrated approach' programmes focused on: sustainable cities; taking deforestation out of commodity supply chains; and food security in sub-Saharan Africa. The updates provide an overview of the history, background and aims of each programme as well as their next steps. Each of the three programmes is expected to submit a Programmatic Framework Document to the 48th GEF Council Meeting in June 2015.

FAO, GOF Announce 14 Regional ABNJ Leaders [viewed]

The program aims to strengthen the capacity of leaders from small island developing States (SIDS) and developing countries to more effectively participate in global and regional ABNJ processes and to address issues in marine ABNJ.

ABNJ Tuna Project to Provide Guidance on Addressing IUU Fishing [viewed]

The project is preparing a publication that highlights the role of port State measures in addressing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in both national jurisdictions and the high seas.

December 2014 Climate Finance Update [viewed]

Climate Finance Update19 December 2014: During December 2014, finance for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects was announced by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank. Germany, Norway and the UK also reported on funding for projects to be undertaken in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF), the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the GEF and IDB released climate-related publications.
