CBD Reminds Parties to Sign Liability Protocol Before Closing Date [viewed]

CBDJanuary 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has reminded Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to sign the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress before 6 March 2012. The Supplementary Protocol is open for signature until that date at UN Headquarters in New York, US, per Article 17 of the Protocol.

Japan Supports ITTO/CBD Initiative on Biodiversity in Africa [viewed]

Event: Sub-Regional Workshop for Latin America on Capacity Building for Implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas [viewed]

The objective of the workshop, which is organized by the CBD Secretariat in collaboration with the Government of Colombia, the National Natural Parks of Colombia and the PoWPA Friends Consortium, is to build capacity to: create a national action plan for implementation of the PoWPA; access funding based on these action plans; and strengthen implementation of the PoWPA on the themes of governance, climate change, sustainable financing, and valuation of the costs and benefits of protected areas, with a focus on marine protected areas where applicable.
