CBD16 December 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published the final report and documents related to the third expert workshop on the development of the City Biodiversity Index, which was held from 11-12 October 2011, in Singapore City, Singapore. Also known as the Singapore Index, the City Biodiversity Index constitutes a component of the CBD indicator framework for monitoring implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 at the city level.

Event: CBD African Workshop on Updating NBSAPs [viewed]

The purpose of this Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) workshop is to address various issues that countries in the region may have encountered or will encounter while updating their national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs), with a focus on target setting, stakeholder engagement and the development of country-specific plans for mobilizing financial resources for the implementation of NBSAPs. ABS Protocol Reaches 67 Signatures, Gabon the First to Ratify [viewed]

CBD16 November 2011: The number of signatories to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has reached 67, following signatures by Argentina, Benin and Djibouti. In addition, Gabon recently became the first country to ratify the Protocol.
