Ad Hoc Working Group of the Whole Provides Update on its Assessment of the Marine Environment [viewed]

United Nations22 April 2014: The Ad Hoc Working Group of the Whole on the Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, including Socioeconomic Aspects (Regular Process), has submitted a report on its work to the UN General Assembly (UNGA). The report includes recommendations for the 69th Session of the UNGA, guidance for the preparation of the first global integrated marine assessment and an outline of the assessment.

Event: 24th Meeting of States Parties to UNCLOS [viewed]

The 24th Meeting of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) will consider: the report of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, its budget report and draft budget proposals for 2015-2016; information reported by the Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority; information related to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf; and the report of the Secretary-General on issues of a general nature that have arisen with respect to UNCLOS, among other issues.

OHRLLS Retreat Agrees on Key Challenges, Priorities for LLDCs [viewed]

UN-OHRLLS10 May 2014: Participants at the Retreat of Ambassadors in preparation for the Second UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) called for additional action to fully address the special needs and problems of LLDCs, despite considerable progress in implementing the Almaty Programme of Action (APoA). The retreat discussed challenges facing LLDCs and future priorities for action, and worked toward agreement on a draft outcome document for the Second UN Conference on LLDCs (LLDC2).
