Bioversity, IFAD, EU Step-up Work on Neglected and Underutilized Species [viewed]

Bioversity InternationalMay 2015: Bioversity International has launched an initiative to enhance the use of neglected and underutilized crop species (NUS) to manage risks and empower the poor in three target countries. Among other objectives, the initiative will build the capacity of farmers, researchers and government actors to integrate nutrition, resilience and income considerations in the development of more sustainable farm and livelihood systems.

Event: 6th International Wildland Fire Conference [viewed]

Hosted by the Korea Forest Service (KFS) and the Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea, the conference will consider ways to limit the damage to forests caused by wildfires including through exchanging knowledge and experiences and strengthening the Global Wild Land Fire Network. The conference will have a particular focus on the links between fires in forests and cultural heritage and practices.

Mediterranean SCP Center Documents PCBs Applications, Advises on Waste Management [viewed]

SCP/RAC6 May 2015: The Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) has compiled applications of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) for owners and public officials, as part of its collaboration with the PCBs component of the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-funded MedPartnership project for the Environmentally Sound Management of equipment, stocks and wastes containing or contaminated by PCBs in national electricity companies of Mediterranean countries. The SCP/RAC is a Stockholm Convention Regional Center, focusing on cooperation with Mediterranean countries.
