Global Ocean Commission Discusses Rescue Package for the Global Ocean [viewed]

iisdrs_goc18 May 2015: The 5th Meeting of the Global Ocean Commission (GOC 5) discussed the outcome of the GOC report, titled ‘From Decline to Recovery: A Rescue Package for the Global Ocean.' Twelve high-level Commissioners, including former Heads of State, and ministers and leaders in the private sector and of international organizations, met on 17 May 2015 in New York, US, to: update Commissioners on progress and developments since the report's release; solicit input into the proposed strategy contained in the report; and discuss ways by which a Global Ocean Accountability Board (GOAB – working title) could be established and managed once the Commission ceases to exist at the end of 2015.

Bioversity International Publishes Global Review of Research on Community Seed Banks [viewed]

Bioversity International13 May 2015: Bioversity International has released an edited volume that reviews research and case studies on the development of community seed banks. The book shows that over their 30 year history, community seed banks, which are mostly informal and locally governed organizations to maintain seeds for local use, have become an important tool for enhancing the resilience of farming communities and helping them adapt to climate change.

Bioversity, IFAD, EU Step-up Work on Neglected and Underutilized Species [viewed]

Bioversity InternationalMay 2015: Bioversity International has launched an initiative to enhance the use of neglected and underutilized crop species (NUS) to manage risks and empower the poor in three target countries.
