Heads of Eight IOs Commit to "Integrated Solutions" [viewed]

joint_action_achieve_sdg26 September 2015: Eight international organizations committed to coordinated action to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, addressing a high-level side event on the sidelines of the UN Sustainable Development Summit. The high-level event resulted in a joint call for action, in which the heads of the eight organizations say they are ready to step up collective efforts to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) implementation, and commit themselves to engaging in multi-stakeholder partnership approaches and working across regions and on multiple levels, from local to global.

September 2015 Climate2 October 2015: During the month of September, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) reported on new funding, and project news and other climate finance-related developments. Multilateral development banks, climate funds, and others released studies, briefs and reports, including on carbon pricing and climate resilience, and reported on events on climate finance readiness and disaster risk financing.

The document (FCCC/SBSTA/2015/INF.7) summarizes the workshop proceedings for further consideration by SBSTA 43 scheduled to take place during the period between 30 November to 1 December 2015, in Paris, France.

Private Sector Forum Commits to Support Achievement of SDGs [viewed]

United Nations Global Compact26 September 2015: The Private Sector Forum resulted in more than 35 corporate commitments to contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including through investments in low-carbon infrastructure and solutions to make clean energy affordable and accessible. Also at the Forum, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) launched ‘the SDG compass,' a tool for helping companies to maximize their contributions to the Global Goals.

EEA Assesses Role of Green Infrastructure in Mitigating Natural Hazards [viewed]

EU, Republic of Korea Discuss Climate, Sustainable Development, Energy [viewed]

Four Arctic Council Working Groups Address Cross-Cutting Issues at "Historic" Joint Meetings [viewed]

Arctic Council18 September 2015: Four of the six Arctic Council Working Groups met in parallel from 14-18 September 2015, in Tromsø, Norway. According to the Arctic Council Secretariat, the meeting was unprecedented, allowing the four Working Groups to meet in a joint session mid-week to discuss cross-cutting issues. Arctic State and indigenous Permanent Participant organization delegates to the Arctic Contaminants Action Program (ACAP), Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP), Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) and Protection of the Arctic Marine Environment (PAME) Working Groups were joined by accredited intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and non-Arctic State observers for the meetings.
