GEF Reports to CBD COP 12 on Biodiversity-related Activities and Funding [viewed]

GEF8 October 2014: At the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 12), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) reported on its biodiversity-related activities, focusing on programming efficiency, programming trends, portfolio performance and resource mobilization beyond the biodiversity focal area. The ‘GEF Report to CBD COP 12,' also highlights future programming opportunities in the GEF's sixth replenishment period (GEF-6), which began 1 July 2014.

CBD and UNEP Release Global Biodiversity Outlook 4 [viewed]

unep-cbd6 October 2014: On the opening day of the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 12), the CBD Secretariat and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) released the fourth edition of the Global Biodiversity Outlook (GBO-4). The report serves as a mid-term assessment of implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the Aichi Biodiversity Targets, as well as the UN Decade on Biodiversity.

Event: Second Session of the Team of Technical and Legal Experts on ABS (TTLE ABS-2) of the CGRFA [viewed]

Event: Eighth Session of the ITWG on AnGR of the CGRFA [viewed]

At its eighth session, the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group (ITWG) on Animal Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (AnGR) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA) will address, among other issues, the preparation of the second report on the state of the world's animal genetic resources for food and agriculture, and the implementation and update of the Global Plan of Action for Animal Genetic Resources.

Meetings of the CBD and its Protocols Open in Pyeongchang [viewed]

CBD29 September 2014: The seventh Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (Cartagena Protocol COP/MOP 7) has opened in Pyeongchang, the Republic of Korea. It will be followed by the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 12), which will run from 6-17 October 2014, also in Pyeongchang, and the first Meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS) (NP COP/MOP 1), which will be held during the second week of CBD COP 12, from 13-17 October 2014.

CBD Secretariat Circulates Provisional Programme and Briefing Notes for COP 12 High-Level Segment [viewed]

The CBD COP 12 High-Level Segment will be held from 15-16 October 2014, under the theme 'Biodiversity for Sustainable Development.'
