Speakers on 29 September 2015 welcomed the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting their potential to transform the world. Speakers also focused on global security concerns, including refugees and the role of the UN Security Council.

Central African Indigenous Networks Discuss Land Security, Conservation and Climate Priorities [viewed]

CBFPSeptember 2015: A sub-regional symposium organized by the Network of Indigenous and Local Communities for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC) highlighted indigenous communities' perspectives on the governance of protected areas and ongoing land reform processes in the region, and agreed on key messages to Central African Heads of State and the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Event: IFPRI at 40 - Looking Back, Looking Forward [viewed]

This invitation-only event will mark the 40th anniversary of the International Food Policy Research Center (IFPRI), a member of the CGIAR Consortium. The event will address the historic evolution and current challenges of food policy. Keynote addresses, panel discussions and other presentations will cover issues such as policies for facilitating sustainable food supplies, making agricultural markets and trade work for the poor, and linking agriculture and nutrition. IFPRI's contributions to gender-focused food policy research and the development of food policies at country and regional levels will also be a focus.

Mountain Partnership Publishes Outcomes of First Regional Forum of Mountain Countries in Central Asia [viewed]

water_mountains11 September 2015: The Central Asia Hub of the Mountain Partnership has published the report of the 2015 Forum of Mountain Countries, which convened on 8 June 2015 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, under the theme ‘Agriculture and Food Security under Changing Climate in Central Asian Mountains: Integrated Watershed Management as a Viable Solution for Coping with and Adapting to Change.' The Forum was co-organized by the Mountain Partnership Central Asia Hub and Tajikistan's State Committee on Environmental Protection, with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

FAO/RECOFTC Report Assesses Gender Mainstreaming in Forest Policies in Asia and the Pacific [viewed]

CPW Launches Four Factsheets on Sustainable Wildlife Management [viewed]

wfc20159 September 2015: On the sidelines of the XIV World Forestry Congress in Durban, South Africa, the Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management (CPW) organized a one-day 'Wildlife Forum' to address challenges and opportunities in sustainable wildlife management. During the session, held the 9 September, the CPW launched four fact sheets on human-wildlife conflict, animal health, wild meat and biodiversity.

Event: Global Network Conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production [viewed]

This conference on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) will showcase 20 years of delivering RECP services to industry and identify areas of interest and potential partnership at the national, regional and global levels within the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, this conference will: explore innovative approaches to RECP through exchanging best practices and sharing success stories and replicable solutions; address such topics as low-carbon production, chemicals management, water resources, eco-industrial parks, waste management and gender mainstreaming; and provide the opportunity to chart a path forward for RECP promotion. This conference will bring together senior government officials, international RECP practitioners, representatives of development financial institutions, and cleaner production experts from research institutions and academia. The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in cooperation with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), is organizing the conference. The Conference will be held in conjunction with the World Resources Forum 2015.

The joint Programme on RECP aims to improve resource efficiency and the environmental performance of businesses and other organizations through scaling up and mainstreaming the application of RECP methods, techniques and policies.

Co-Chairs Announced for Post-2015 Summit Interactive Dialogues [viewed]

post2015_summit31 August 2015: UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Sam Kutesa has announced the Heads of State and Government who will serve as Co-Chairs of each interactive dialogue session during the UN summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda (Sustainable Development Summit), taking place on 25-27 September 2015. In his letter accompanying the list, Kutesa indicates that the selection of Co-Chairs was based on submissions as well as consultations with the regional groups of Member States.
