Expert Workshop Focuses on Enhancing Biodiversity Data and Observing Systems [viewed]

CBD12 October 2013: Held prior to 17th meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA), in Montreal, Canada, the expert workshop on enhancing biodiversity data and observing systems in support of the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 addressed ways in which the collection of, access to and the use of biodiversity data and observations can be enhanced to support evidence-based decision making and planning, with a view to achieving the Aichi biodiversity targets and corresponding national targets.

Event: CBD Global Workshop on Reviewing Progress and Building Capacity for the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans Revision Process [viewed]

Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and its implementing agencies, UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Development Programme (UNDP), this global workshop targets primarily the GEF Enabling Activity (EA) project coordinators. It will comprise a number of parallel modules on themes focused on aspects of planning and development of national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) that have been identified as the most in need of technical support, including: biodiversity information management; strategic target setting; mainstreaming; and resource mobilization.
