Event: 66th Session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe: Committing to Action on Sustainable Development in Times of Change [viewed]

The 66th session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) will serve as the Regional Forum for Sustainable Development and give input to the 2015 high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF). The high-level dialogue of this meeting will discuss, inter alia: how to transform the proposed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into guidelines, standards, regulations and policies so as to help countries to achieve the goals and take action at the regional level; and how to develop a framework for accountability and monitoring of sustainable development. High-level thematic discussions will also be held and focus on actions and commitments. These discussions will address: sustainable energy and resilient communities; sustainable management of ecosystems and natural resources;connectivity and competitiveness for sustainable lives; measuring and monitoring sustainable development; and partnering for sustainable development.

Event: UNCCD CRIC 13 [viewed]

The thirteenth session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 13) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will take place two weeks after the UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference and fourth special session of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST S-4). CRIC 13 will be preceded by Consultations of affected country Parties of the Convention's Regional Implementation Annexes on 23 and 24 March 2015. Delegates will also discuss how to integrate ongoing processes to align national action programmes with the proposed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relating to sustainable land management.

Event: Meeting of the UNFF 11 Bureau [viewed]

UNECE Water Convention Parties Discuss Reporting Mechanism [viewed]

UNECE16 December 2014: The Core Group on Reporting under the Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes concluded its first meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, which reviewed and compared reporting mechanisms of relevance under other international agreements.

December 2014 Climate Finance Update [viewed]

Climate Finance Update19 December 2014: During December 2014, finance for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects was announced by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank. Germany, Norway and the UK also reported on funding for projects to be undertaken in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF), the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the GEF and IDB released climate-related publications.

ASEAN Members Adopt Declaration on Combating Wildlife Trafficking [viewed]

Asean13 November 2014: The 9th East Asia Summit (EAS) concluded with the issuance of declarations and statements on a number of transboundary issues of common concern including Ebola, wildlife trafficking, disaster response and terrorism. On wildlife trafficking, 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member States, as well as Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, the Russian Federation and the US, adopted the 'Declaration on Combating Wildlife Trafficking.'

UNGA Adopts Sustainable Fisheries Resolution, Defers Text on Oceans and UNCLOS [viewed]

Participants at Voluntary Meeting on REDD+ Exchange Views on Future Meetings [viewed]
