WAVES Promotes South-South Learning in Latin America [viewed]

waves13 January 2015: The Wealth Accounting and the Valuation of Ecosystem Services (WAVES) partnership has released its January 2015 newsletter, which features a workshop towards the first regional community of practice (CoP) on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) in Latin America. ADB, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank published articles, studies and other material on, inter alia: climate proofing of transport infrastructure; vulnerability and resilience in cities; financial instruments; and carbon pricing and offsets.

ITTO Market Report Links Indonesian Certification to German Imports [viewed]

Itto2 February 2015: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) launched the 16-30 January issue of the Tropical Timber Market (TTM) Report, which highlights a drop in German wood product imports from Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana and Malaysia. However, the report notes an increase over the same period in imports from Indonesia, in part due to mandatory certification of Indonesian wood products.

World Agroforestry Centre Helps Indian Communities Produce Biofuels [viewed]

World Agroforestry Centre21 January 2015: The World Agroforestry Centre's Programme for the Development of Alternative Biofuel Crops has organized a workshop aimed at enhancing small-scale biofuel production in rural India. During the workshop on 'Sustainable Rural Biofuel Energy Options: A Dialogue with Farmers,' the Programme held capacity building sessions with community members and introduced domestically-manufactured machines for processing oilseeds into biofuels in 20 villages in the Hassan District of India's state of Karnataka.
