€1 Million Pledged for Save Our Species (SOS) Initiative

6 March 2012: The French Global Environment Facility (FFEM) has announced the donation of €1 million to support the Save Our Species (SOS) global coalition to protect threatened species, an initiative led by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the World Bank.

SOS will use this additional funding for field conservation work to protect global biodiversity, specifically focusing on threatened species in developing countries. SOS aims to slow the effects of the nature extinction crisis by bringing together all levels of society to work towards biodiversity protection, including through private-public partnerships.
