FAO Releases Global Spatial Database on Water and Agriculture
November 2012: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a Beta version of its AquaMaps database, which seeks to provide global datasets on water resources and water management.
AquaMaps is designed to be complementary to the FAO's Information System on Water and Agriculture (AQUASTAT). AquaMaps provides geographic information while AQUASTAT collects statistical data and qualitative information. AquaMaps includes datasets focused around themes, including: rivers and water bodies; irrigation and infrastructure; hydrological basins; climate; runoff, evapotranspiration and filtration models; and integrated analyses.
