World Bank, GEF Fund Transfrontier Conservation in Malawi and Zambia

21 April 2011: The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved a US$4.82 million Global Environment Facility (GEF) Trust Fund Grant for the cross-border management of biodiversity in Malawi and Zambia.

The project aims to establish more effective cross-border management of biodiversity in the Nyika Transfrontier Conservation Area and to improve local livelihood systems in the area. The project includes planning and management for the conservation area, a focus on sustainable livelihoods and sustainable financing strategies. [World Bank Press Release]
