The revised proposal, which addresses 21 targets, under 11 SDGs, is expected to be discussed at the fifth intergovernmental negotiation session, convening on 18-22 May 2015.

Event: Third Forum of the Standing Committee on Finance [viewed]

The Standing Committee on Finance (SCF), established by the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC, is mandated with improving coherence and coordination in the delivery of climate change financing, rationalizing the financial mechanism, mobilizing financial resources, and measuring, reporting and verifying (MRV) of support provided to developing country parties. After establishing the SCF, the COP requested that it organize a forum for the communication and continued exchange of information among bodies and entities dealing with climate change finance, in order to promote linkages and coherence. The third SCF Forum will focus on issues related to finance for forests. The SCF has also been addressing coherence and coordination in forests-related financing during its regular Committee meetings.

Event: World Leaders' Conservation Forum 2015 [viewed]

The World Leaders' Conservation Forum (WLCF) will provide a platform for leaders from all sectors of society, including government, business, civil society and academia, to discuss and seek creative nature-based solutions to global environmental, economic, and social challenges. The main theme of this three-day event, organized by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), is 'Nature: a path to peace and coexistence'. On Day 1, expert meetings will be held on: reduction of threats to biodiversity; nature conservation for sustainable development; co-existence between humans and nature; and facilitating transboundary conservation and peace building. On Day 2, dialogues will take place on: transboundary conservation and peace building; harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife; and resilient ecosystems and sustainable development. On Day 3, participants will be invited to visit one World Heritage site, two Ramsar Sites as well as their adjacent local communities.

CITES and UNEP Support Strengthening of Wildlife Laws [viewed]

ITPGR Tool to Support In Situ Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources [viewed]

ITPGR5 May 2015: A statistics and spatial tool to support in situ conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture has been developed within the programme to support capacity development (CAPFITOGEN) of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR). The tool, titled 'Complementa,' was presented to plant breeders and researchers during a regional workshop organized recently by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Bioversity International, in Pretoria, South Africa.
